About

About us

The house where the sea sits at the table

Calabajío opened in 2007 in the heart of the Granada coast. It was born to be a place to enjoy great food and a curated cellar, facing the Mediterranean.

We have several spaces to enjoy throughout the day —bar, restaurant, terrace and chill-out— perfect for hosting events in a unique setting.

Thanks to Almuñécar’s warm, gentle climate we open all year round, offering a haven of calm and good food 365 days a year. We’re right on the beach, beside the quietest coves in the area.

The setting

On the beach at Velilla-Taramay, five minutes from Almuñécar

You’ll find us on Playa del Calabajío, in Velilla-Taramay, one of the calmest coves on Granada’s Costa Tropical. We’re about five minutes by car from Almuñécar town centre, facing a serene sea and unforgettable sunsets.

Getting here is easy: we’re on Camino de la Galera, beside the Velilla-Taramay seafront promenade, with parking nearby. A privileged location to enjoy lunch or dinner with sea views, whether you’re coming off the beach or seeking out a dining destination in Almuñécar.

El Susurro del Mar

The Whisper of the Sea

Many years ago, on the shores of Playa del Calabajío, the Mediterranean chose to reveal itself. Every sunset it whispered to the fishermen: “I offer my purest treasures only to those who respect me and know how to wait.” Only a group of dreamers dared to set their table where the waves kiss the sand. They were the first. And the sea smiled. Since then, every dish we serve carries that ancient promise: the soul of the Mediterranean, given with generosity.
